9:00 PM Winter Singles Ladder (Nov to Apr 30, 2021): January Rounds

Welcome to tve VVTC Singles Ladder!!!

We encourage all VVTC members, male and female, to join us for our fourth Winter singles ladder! This is a great way to put your skills to the test and meet new tennis players in your area. Join in on the fun!!!

THINGS TO KNOW:

•Monthly rounds start the 1st of each month. Join anytime. If you join after the 1st of the month, you will be included in the following month's ladder and will receive guidelines/regulations and instructions on payment, etc, via email in the first few days of that month.

•The ladder is open to all levels, both male and female.

•The cost to participate in the ladder is $10 which covers you for one complete Season (Summer: May to end of October. Winter: November to end of April).

•Players arrange their own match times and locations, find their own courts and tennis balls to use and communicate as such with opponents in their box.

•By signing up for this ladder, you are agreeing to share your contact information with other ladder players.

•If you know of other non-member players who'd like to participate, simply have them sign up as a VVTC member - as membership is free and there is no commitment to participate in any other VVTC events.

HOW IT WORKS:

•Each month, players will be placed in a 'box' with three (or four) other players of a similar skill level. We will email all participants with player contact info at the beginning of each month.

•Players are responsible to arrange their own monthly matches with the other players in their box and agree on who will supply the balls.

•Best of three sets is recommended, however, if time is limited, players may agree on any other way to determine a winner (for example - best of two sets, no-ad scoring, tie breaker if needed, etc).

•If you are unable to play your matches in the month (due to injury or schedule), you must notify players in your box or respond to their match requests to let them know. This is so they can claim a default-win for that match.

•After your match, the winner must email vvtcsinglesladder@gmail.com notifying us of their win.

•Players earn 3 points for a win, 2 points for a win by default (ie opponent can't play their monthly match with you or doesn't show or has to leave before end of match, etc), 1 point for a loss, and 0 points for a loss by default.

•At the end of each month, the top player in each box will move up to the next box, and the bottom player will drop to the lower box. Ties in each box will be decided by a coin toss by the administrators. An email will be sent at the beginning of each month with updated ladder positioning and new player contact info.

•New players entering the ladder will be placed as best as possible, estimated by the administrators.

•Players who wish to become inactive for any given month must notify the ladder administrators at vvtcsinglesladder@gmail.com.

This format has proven to be a lot of fun and allows players of all skill levels to participate equally in the ladder. The only determinant of where you end up is your participation. So, have fun and play your best tennis!

If you have any questions, please email (only) vvtcsinglesladder@gmail.com.

Multi-Week Events

WINTER 2021 MD LEAGUE NIGHTS (7:15pm to 9:15pm, Fridays: Jan 8 to Apr 23)

PLEASE ONLY SIGN UP HERE IF YOU ARE PART OF A TEAM.

** TEAM SPOTS ARE CONFIRMED ONLY ON A FIRST-PAID BASIS; PLEASE READ BELOW ON HOW TO REGISTER AND PAY. **

(COVID-19 safety protocols are in place at Oak Bay Rec. Please familiarize yourself with them as posted on the top of the VVTC website calendar page.)

Welcome to the 2021 VVTC Winter Mixed Doubles League! Please read this posting in its entirety before you sign up for the League. Please click on the link further down below for full Rules & Regulations and how scoring works.

THINGS TO KNOW:

  • While we know there will be competitive spirit in the League games, VVTC is, above all, a friendly, community tennis club. We expect good sportsmanship, friendliness, and proper etiquette. Smiles everyone! 😊

  • We are accepting a maximum of 8 teams. A team that plays on any given Friday is two players. We suggest you form a team with a minimum of 4 players so there are enough players to cover illness, injury, unavailability, etc.

  • The Combined Skill Level (CSL) of a team (two players) playing on a Friday must be between 7.0 and 8.5. For example, a 3.5 level player can pair with another 3.5 level player or a 4.0 level player can pair with a 4.5 level player but the CSL can not be lower than 7.0 or higher than 8.5.

  • The Winter 2021 season is 16 weeks, with no black-out dates, from Fri, Jan 8th to Fri, Apr 23rd. That's 16 Fridays of guaranteed court time and arranged matches!

  • The fee for each team is $34 x 16 weeks = $544.00 for the Season and we are collecting the full amount up-front, via e-transfer only, before the season starts.

  • Sign-up deadline is Christmas Day, Fri, Dec 25th, 2020 and is on a first-paid, first confirmed spot basis only.

  • Your Team Captain will arrange who is playing on any given Friday. The League Organizers do not need to know which team players are playing each week, as long as it is a male and female player with a CSL between 7.0 and 8.5.

  • All players must be a VVTC member. If you have a player in mind that is not currently a member, please have them sign up as a member as membership is free and they are not obligated to take part in any other VVTC offerings.

  • The League Organizers will have score sheets and track match wins each Friday. The website will be updated each week with all the team standings based on percentages of how many sets won over how many sets played.

WHAT TO DO, HOW TO REGISTER, HOW TO PAY:

  • Begin contacting your tennis peeps to form a team of anywhere from 4 to 6 players.

  • Have ALL players on your team sign up for 2021 WINTER MD LEAGUE NIGHTS posting on the VVTC Calendar under ‘Multi-Week Events’.

  • Choose a name for your team.

  • Choose one of your team members to be the Captain of your team.

  • Have your Captain send an email to vvtcleagueplay@gmail.com to advise us of your team name and your team players.
  • Have your Captain send an e-transfer for $544.00 to vvtcleagueplay@gmail.com to pay for your team for the full Season by payment deadline Fri, Dec 25th, 2020. Your team spot will be confirmed as long as you are one of the first 8 teams who have paid. (Team captains can collect individual payment from each team player accordingly.)
  • After the registration and payment deadline, we will send an email to all teams advising on the start of the League and give more information.

RULES & REGULATIONS

We are looking forward to seeing and playing with all the teams and players! It’s going to be a ‘smash’! Lol. 😉
